Asilikos New

The new Asilikos is a mineral, environmentally friendly blasting abrasive made from a mixture of synthetic aluminium silicate from melting chamber granulate and natural aluminium silicate from volcanic lava.

Description

The new Asilikos is a mineral, environmentally friendly blasting abrasive made from a mixture of synthetic aluminium silicate from coal slag granulate and natural aluminium silicate from volcanic lava. The new Asilikos is produced in Lünen (Germany) and/or Dordrecht (The Netherlands)* based on ISO 11126-4 and 11126-11 and meets the requirements of DGUV 100-500, Chapter 2.24, “Working with blasting equipment” (blasting work).

Asilikos is available in a wide variety of particle sizes. This allows excellent surface qualities to be achieved on numerous substrates, such as steel or concrete, with individually defined cleanliness and surface roughness.

Possible applications and uses of different grain sizes

Fine grain sizes are particularly suitable for blasting wood, as they make the structure clearly visible. They are also used for sweeping steel parts to remove loose paint coats or flash rust, as well as for sweeping galvanised surfaces for subsequent coatings, stable car body parts and thin profiles. They are also used to clean concrete surfaces and hard natural stone such as granite or basalt.

Medium grain sizes are used for sheet metal and profiles up to a thickness of 3 mm, such as lorry frames and side panels. They are also suitable for cleaning concrete surfaces and hard natural stone such as granite or basalt, as well as for blasting and derusting steel components and steel structures of all kinds. This also includes tank wagons, railway wagons and containers. Medium grits are also used to remove paint from concrete and plaster surfaces for subsequent coatings.

Coarse grain sizes are used for blasting and derusting heavily coated or very rusty steel components and steel structures. They are particularly suitable for blasting concrete surfaces and exposing rebar, as well as exclusively for blasting power station boilers.
