Shipbuilding and ship repair

Our blast cleaning abrasives remove the toughest mill scale, paint and rust from steel hulls, helping you to achieve the desired grade of cleanliness or surface profile

Rusty ship

Surface preparation is vital when ships are to be protected by a film-forming material such as paint.

Good surface preparation extends the lifetime of the paint, meaning fewer maintenance intervals and therefore lower costs. Ships often suffer heavy corrosion. That’s why high-quality corrosion protection – in combination with proper surface preparation of the steel – is so important.

Choose from a wide range of expendable blast cleaning abrasives, including NAstra® iron silicate (copper slag blasting grit) - suitable for cleanliness grades SA-3, SA-2½, SA-2 and SA-1. We also offer a range of recyclable abrasives and special abrasives for recycling systems and specific applications.

The maritime industry is all about speed. Ships need to be launched or returned to service as quickly as possible. That’s why we guarantee short delivery times for all of our abrasive products. For fixed locations or long-term projects, our silo rental system provides maximum flexibility around deliveries whilst at the same time reducing packaging materials.
