Gasometer Oberhausen blast cleaned with NAstra® iron silicate abrasive

Gasometer Oberhausen

NAstra® expendable blast cleaning abrasive is used for the renovation of the Oberhausen Gasometer in Germany.

The Gasometer in Oberhausen is the largest exhibition and event hall in Europe. The 90-year old industrial building is currently being extensively renovated, with a new foundation and exterior paint. The outside of the former gas storage facility is corroded and rusty, so the old paint has to be removed and new corrosion protection applied.

After the extensive scaffolding, the blasting work started in April of this year. Our customer Rodopi Marine GmbH. selected NAstra® grade NA14 0,2-1,4 mm. EP Power Grit has placed 4 rental silos of 19m³ each at the jobsite to ensure sufficient availability of NAstra® abrasive at all times. NAstra® blast cleaning abrasive, made of iron silicate from a German copper production facility, impresses with its environmental friendliness, high blasting power and low dust formation. The blasting work will be followed by a base coat and two top coats.

Our customer Rodopi Marine GmbH has been very pleased with the quality of the NAstra® supplied and the service we have provided, including the 4 large storage silos that we have placed at the jobsite.
